help: Symmetry in X is offset

I loaded a tool while following a tutorial and Symmetry in X is off by a half-inch. If I place the cursor dead center, the other red dot is sitting to the left of center.

is there a way to reestablish proper symmetry without having to cut the tool in half and mirroring it in order to reestablish symmetry?

Pressing Tool > Deformation > Unify will recenter your model, but it will also resize it at the same time which may or may not be a problem. Pressing Unify in order to recenter the model requires that your model is symmetrical. This is because the Unify function is based on the 3D volume of the subtool.

A better solution requires you have an older version of your model. You can then export subdivision level 1 of the old model as .obj and import it into subdivision level 1 of the newer, off center model.

I forgot.

You could also turn on Transform > L. Sym (Local Symmetry) which works very well on symmetrical models. But your model will still be off center when you exit Local Symmetry mode or if you should export.

Thank you, the Unify did the trick
