HELP! Smooth tears across groups, tools does not save groups

hi there,

testing zbrush and am new to it.
have 2 major issues:

I’ve imported and obj file of a character with groups. I’ve I run brushes across the group seams all fine, except for the smooth tool! If I run the smooth tool across the group boundaries, it tears them apart and createst creases. How do I use the smooth tool across seams???

ALso when I save the obj file as a tool, it does not save the groups. how do save all groups with the tool?

still haven’t found the solution to this, if anyone can help!

just to let others know, there does NOT seem to be a way to do this

the only way I’ve found is by merging the imported object, however since this changes the number of verts, that’s not an option for me

some brushes still work across the seams, so can only use those
