Help selecting polygroups!

Hi, have a robot I created with around 100 plus pieces, As a single tool, is there a way to select more than one polygroup, for instance , if I ctr. shift click on one group , it solos it, which is fine , is there a way to select say eight groups on one leg for instance, or a foot, so I can merge to one tool. If I use masking, I have to move pieces out of the way and back to get a good selection of groups and regroup, then I loose my original groups, which I want for uv. mapping later, The only option I know is split to separate pieces, and merge down, which would give me a foot tool with original groups, leg tool, etc., with over a hundred pieces this is a big headache , merge visible same pain ! Any Ideas. A Rectangle, lasso, etc, select polygroups brush would be great, is there such a beast! I would love to be able to select a dozen groups and subtract as needed! Or select a bunch of subtools that have been split! Maybe there is a Top Secret key stroke! Subtool and Transpose master is a no go.Dj

hide everything but one polygroup as needed. invert your hidden geo…ctrl+shift+lmb I think…might be drag.
now click on other groups to hide them as well, hide everything you need then invert to have just that visible.

unless I am missing something in your workflow.

Thanks workflow was backwards from what I was thinking! But works! Got my hands feet all split up ! And the autogroups button brought back my original groups on the new tools . So it was not a top secret keystroke ,just a classified work flow! Thanks again! Dj
