Help: Sculpting realistic heads

Hi everyone! I just joined.

I have an assignment to sculpt a realistic human head in Zbrush for my class.

I figured out using the move tool works wonders when intially forming the silhoutte and function of the head. I’ve been using claytubes, inflat, to create some landmark muscle features on the face and so on.

I hit a wall at shaping the ear, nostrils under the bridge of the nose, and the lips look too doughy still and malformed. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions?

Thanks

hey, could you please post a screenshot of your work ?
it would be easier for us to comment then ! :+1:

ZBRUSH_HELP01 copy.jpg Here’s my sculpt so far.

After trial and error I found a way to get the proportions looking nice from the front.

Any tips from the front of the face are still welcome!

The ear is bugging me because I can’t shape it to look natural, everytime I try shaping, it shrinks, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Not even close.
Sorry.

Creating Realistic face is’nt a easy job…bt nice start…keep it up…

ncie attempt but it is almost impossible before you will understand the anatomy principles and you have very bad references. I would advise you to find better references and learn the main features of the face

wow didnt knew zbc had trolls, bicc39’s career is pretty impressive !

schism, try to align your model with your refs in an image editor, and check the differences,
main problems :
shape of the skull, rounder,
space between eyes, shorter, also check the shape of em,
nose is too large, check the alignment of the nostrils with the inner corner of the eyes, after uve put the eyes at the good place,
check the places of the nose, the sides particularly,
check the nasolabial furrow shape on the front view,
your chin is too big and too low,
and on your forehead you have a cavity where you should have a bulge.
==> repeat all on side view,
for the ear, dont be afraid, its hard for a beginner but just try sculpt what you see.

Funny, didn’t know career credentials were requirement for
posting.
Will endeavor to follow your rules in future.
Sorry to have posted in this thread.
Can assure you will not happen again.

Thanks all for the input I will definitely retry again.

Mainly this was me learning more of Zbrush and the awesome tools it contains, so I just did this quick sculpt seeing what I could get.

I definitely see where the errors are now, I appreciate everyone’s help.

Hope no more trolls come in here, just ripping someones work without feedback on how they should improve doesn’t help the person grow. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyways…lol

Does anyone know any threads or helpful information you could link to me?

Here’s one ofthe best tutorials ive come across:

http://eat3d.com/free_mudbox_head

even though he does it in mudbox, he covers the general porportions and what to look for when modeling the facial features of a male face.

Check it out! Hope this will help improve your work
