Help Request: creating a correctly oriented Insert Brush [Solved]

Hi all, a plea for help if I may.

I have an antenna tool (long and thing with a base) that I wish to use as an insert mesh. Have been able to create the insert mesh ok but I am clearly doing something wrong in terns of the orientation. I want the IM to have it’s bottom against the tool I am applying it too with the antenna pointing out from the polygon I draw on.

I have created my IM by aligning it up with an axis (I have tried all 3), it’s base at 0,0,0 and I have unified the subtool before I create the IM brush. Yet whichever orientation I try when applying the IM it comes out with it’s long side aligned with the polygons rather than perpendicular to it. Bit puzzled. Appreciate any guidance.

Hope this makes sense! If not lemme know and I will attempt to make a Zb video!

Thanks
Steve

Is the base of the object ‘open’? When you insert, ZBrush bridges between your mesh and the insert.

You need to align the mesh correctly to the screen, so set your antenna up so you are looking down on it. Then create your insert mesh brush.

Thank you both, that was it! It was a lot simpler than I imagined! I think I am still getting used to this literal way of working in Zb!

Many thanks again
