Help & Questions

First, I’m on Mac OS X Mavericks using 4R6.

1a. ZBrush hasn’t been updated (at least it’s not clear to me, see 1b) since June of last year, is it still in active development?

1b. The Zplugin for updating “Auto Update” says there is an update but when I click it, ZBrush closes and nothing happens. What is going on?

  1. The docs say I can add folder shortcuts in the ZTools folder to other locations but they don’t show up. Am I misunderstanding how it’s supposed to work. The docs also say I should save stuff in the ZBrush folder. NO WAY! I learned a long time ago NEVER to save projects in application folder. That is a great way to lose files and terrible advice. It would be much easier accessing my file through LightBox ***8211; so, can I add shortcuts or not?

  2. My preferences don’t save. For example, LightBox prefs for not opening on startup reset. What is going on and how do I fix it?

Thanks.

That doesn’t answer my question about updating because none of these things are happening. Nothing is downloading. ZBrush shuts down and that is it.

You did read the full post to find an answer how to fix? You should be using ZBrush 4R6 P2. Not sure about shortcuts on a Mac as I’m on a PC. I save all of my files externally from the ZBrush folder most of the time.

I am not using P2. I can’t update to P2. I will state my issue again: ZBrush shuts down when I attempt to Auto Update. Nothing downloads, nothing happens at all. The post does not have a solution for my problem.

That was on the page I linked to.

Regarding your update issue, have you tried running the ZUpgrader application in the root folder of your ZBrush 4R6 installation, instead of clicking Auto Update?

I don’t have Mavericks, but on Snow Leopard, I DID have to run the Upgrader app instead of autoupdating.
