Help!!! Polypaint is black

Hello everyone,

I have followed Pixologic steps on creating UV map> UV master

  1. Set tool > UV map > Width 2048
  2. Set tool > geometry > Sdiv to the highest level.
  3. Press tool > Texture map > New from polypaint.

But i only get partial of the texture. Not sure what is going on, if someone can give me a hand that would greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

What do your UVs look like?
Do you have that area masked?

I’m not sure if this is your issue, but I ran into a similar problem when I polypainted on a layer

If you are working with layers, go through them all and clear any masking. Masking is often the cause of things turning black.

Help!!! Polypaint is black

I’m pretty sure that texture is black, not polypaint…

I have followed Pixologic steps on creating UV map> UV master

  1. Set tool > UV map > Width 2048
  2. Set tool > geometry > Sdiv to the highest level.
  3. Press tool > Texture map > New from polypaint.

Those are not steps “on creating UV map> UV master”

Now without quotes:
From little picture of texture map on second screenshot look’s like you assign texture of lover part of model to upper (or both), so black texture comes from unused (black) part of map.
Screen of texture map and uv map would be much more useful here.
I would suggest spending more time in reading and watching stuff mainly from ZBrush Docs and Ask Zbrush (sorry, don’t know other reliable sources, but you can ask for that here on forum)

Thanks fellas sorry for the late reply am going to check right now! Theres no layers on the tool and its all the same tool. This is the texture of the face and only the lower part of the polypaint is visible. Heres a picture of the face texture and also a picture of the UV dialog box. Once again thanks fellas for the fast response you guys are worth your weight in gold. uv map.jpgface texture_01.jpg.layers.jpgface same group.jpg

After messing around with UV master the other half of the texture appeared, not sure why the head is separated from the neck? It would be cool to have it all together. But not sure how going about doing so, any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance/ texture.jpg

Weak i was hoping to get a answer to this problem since this is Zbrush Central and the application am using is Zbrush. I guess am not the only one that had this problem before this software been around for years. I can share my Tool to anyone that is capable of figuring out this dilemma of mine would be greatly appreciated!

Fill the object with a material. Then click new from poly paint under the texture map section.
