i’ve imported a nice and clean lowpoly mesh to apply all my details from my ZBrush hipoly model. it seems the way to go about this is to rig them together using the zsphere tool, but i can’t extract the HiDef information from my hipoly model…? when using the PreSubDiv slider, does this use existing mesh info, or just redivide the mesh based off it’s current topology? I assumed pushing this slider up to the appropriate level would cause the Projection to read into the mesh’s HD polys, no? any info, methods, links, or help in any other form would be incredibly appreciated, i dont think i can recreate the same results having to redo all this
many thanks and happy sculpting
Also, i should include that i’m using v 3.5r2. This pic explains my problem.

I see that this method does not read into HD subdiv’s. I suppose the most obvious (and tedious) solution would be to manually bake in the hd info with additional subdiv’s by chopping up the model and using “Project All” on each little portion. And though that sounds like an awesome saturday night, are there any other possible workarounds for this problem? Namely, any ways to bake the hd as regular subdiv info. Thank you.
edit: the Project All method also seems to require lots and lots of cleaning up. Chunks of polys seem to explode off randomly, even when progressively projecting up each subdivision. I thought this would keep it nice and clean, but, it seems it has it’s own agenda.

looking at your it only takes 1M poly, what are you planning to do? retopo it?
typical game asset workflow, made hi and low poly meshes, need to normal map (et al) the details and such onto the low poly. this would all be done already if i could just make use of my HD divisions, which i can’t. and obviously i’m not using the model in the picture, it’s just to show that retop projection doesn’t work w/ HD.

tell me there’s actually a way for working w/ hd polys and they aren’t just locked away forever!.. on this topic, how can you remove ONE subdivision of HD polys - not all of them (by cloning or what have you)
