Help needed with UV Master!!

So I have finished sculpting out a creature. The creature is composed of a body and a few subtools such as horns, eyes and teeth. I need to unwrap the entire model with its subtools so that each map created has all the subtools on one file. (so the texture map, normal map and diffusion map will each have all the subtools)

The problem I am haveing is that if I merge all the layers into one model it ends up being so large that zbrush cant recreate the lower division layers in order to unwrap it or create the maps using multi map exporter. If I don’t merge all the layers and try to unwrap without merging I have to unwrap each subtool, which leads to separate uvs on different maps which is not what i need, and if i try to export all the unwrapped information using muli map exporter it ends up stacking all the information right on top of each-other instead of spreading it out.

How do i go about unwrapping a model with multiple subtools so that all the unwrapped information gets placed into one map?

Thank you all for your time!

To create UVs which share the same space but don’t overlap using UV Master you need to use a combined low res mesh. Here’s one method:

  1. Use Transpose Master to create a low res combined mesh. Make sure the Transpose Master>Grps button is off then press the TPoseMesh button. The resulting mesh will have groups based on the original subtools.
  2. Use UV Master to unwrap the combined mesh. Be sure to use the Polygroups option.
  3. Press Tool>Subtool>Groups split.
  4. For each of the new low res subtools press UV Master>Copy UVs.
  5. Select each corresponding subtool in the original model and press UV Master>Paste UVs.

Having done that for all subtools you will be able to use the MME Merge Maps options successfully.

oh wow, marcus i love you
