Help needed with the recording/replay zscript…

Hello everybody…

I need some troubleshooting with the recording/replay zscript.
I want to record a head modelling session, but everytime I replay any of my recorded sessions, the geometry gets distorted at a certain point of sculpting.
The zSpheres are placed and moved correctly, but as soon as I turn the spheres into geometry and use for example the move brush, the movements in the replay seem to have another scaling facor as the movements I did on my canvas. I started several sessions now, trying to solve the problem on my own (f.e. initialize Zbrush), but always without any success.

I’m working on a MacPro, 8 Gigs Ram, Zbrush 3.12.

Have you resized the canvas? If you’re recording a sculpting session you should always work with the default canvas. Otherwise you are liable to get partial-value edits that end up throwing off everything that comes after.

When starting zBrush, the default canvas size is 1120 by 840 pixels.

Hmm, it doesn’t seem to make any difference to switch the resolution to another value or aspect ratio. The problem remains the same, even when I use some preset ZTools like the DemoHead… I fully initialized ZBrush restored UI Configurations and so on.

Probably there has to be another reason why the capturing does not work correctly. Can anyone help me please?

One thing you might try is to record several sessions instead of trying to do everything all at once. So, for example, you would record your zsphere session up until you convert to a mesh, ending with saving out the mesh. You save that recording and then start a new one, at the beginning of which you load in the mesh saved earlier.

Another thing I would try is before doing any sculpting on the new mesh pressing Tool>Deformation>Unify. This scales the mesh to one ZBrush unit and may solve the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion, Marcus, but neither recording several shorter sessions nor unifying the object was any help.
So again: Although I fully initialized ZBrush, I sculpted different geometries (even ZBrush generic files like the DemoHead) and tried different resolutions, there is still a massive geometry distorsion when replaying a recorded zscript session.

I’m working on a MacPro, GFX-Card is ATI XT1900, Screen Resolution at 1600 by 1200 px, palette monitor, 9 Gigs of RAM, Wacom Intuos 3. On my Intel iMac at home it’s the same problem btw.

Any further help or suggestions for me?

I’m afraid not, sorry. There are problems associated with document sizing in the Mac version and I suspect this is related.
