Help Needed Exporting Texture Maps

I’ve gone through a paid tutorial from Gnomon Workshop, and Free Tutorials on Pixologic’s site… and I still can’t get this working.

My goal is this:
I want to render a character I made in Zbrush, in a 3rd party application. My goal is to have this character in a scene, rendered in e-On Vue. It’s an outdoor scene built in Vue. I just want this Zbrush object with textures imported to vue.

Since Vue imports .obj files, i thought this would be easy. Here’s what I’ve done:

After loading my Painted character in Zbrush:

  1. in Zbrush, I created a 4k UV map (PUV tiles)
  2. in Zbrush, I clicked on the texture pallet and clicked New from Polypaint
  3. Then I click Clone in the texture pallet
  4. From the texture tool, I select Export - and export the BMP
  5. I also have exported a obj of the tool/object from Zbrush

In Vue:

  1. I import the obj file - which picks up the bmp texture map in the same folder… and it applies all wrong. The textures are just like patches of color and paint all over the object, but not in any right way.
  2. I tried a variety of things: like loading a default material, applying a bitmap image (and pointing to the texture map) and again - same result.

Thinking this was perhaps a Vue problem, I went to another 3D application (Daz) and loaded in the obj file, and again it loads but all the textures, again load in as rectangular patches in a hodge podge and seemingly chaotic splash on the model.

At this point I’m stumped. Every tutorial I’ve read, or watched says this should work.

I can’t use GoZ. I don’t want to start messing with 3rd party plugins… I just want to know how this works in native Zbrush.

If anyone has any advice, I’m all ears.

thanks in advance,

Brian

Try flipping the texture vertically. You can do this in the Texture palette before export. It should then apply to the model correctly in Vue.
