ive been making models for 4 years know and my models are preatty good but a nice skin material will make my models look even more real but i have no luck with the skin material tutorial that came with the software so if anyone has a good skin making tutorial on how to make one and apply it to ur model i will really apreciatte. i also try to downloading skin material but when i apply them to my models it dosent look nice in fact it looks even worse i dont know if is the render options or light or the way u gotta apply the material.
ive even download light and skin materials from some other people and my models look ugly not what i am trying to accomplish what the hell am i doing wrong… im sure im not the only one with this problem so help us who cant quite seem to master the skin material making and applying it correctly

I don’t think there are a lot, or even one tutorial on skin-material making, on
this forum , but there are lots materials to download…even if you don’t like e’m
you can take them apart, change value’s etc.
If you say they look ugly on your models, what sort of models do you make ?.. Do you need realistic human-skin or scaly monster or dino-skin ?
Most materials come with a matching light-set…so perhaps you use to strong light or to high material-diffuse value’s !
I think you’d best post a rendering of one of your models with a material on
the forum and ask more specific questions !

i find it invaluable to have a good base skin mat…you can play around with one or use Sokar’s…a search on the name will turn it up…and use a texture on top of it. A material alone won’t get you the realism you desire…close but you still gotta work it with texturing. which will mean learning how to use various brushes like highlighter I and II and shader etc in pm to achiever great results.
