Help - Issue with subdivision levels

I’m relatively new to Zbrush although not to 3D in general. I have been using ZB4 to make a normal map for a lo-poly character, worked on it a couple of days ago, got so far and then saved it. The original mesh was only around 3,000 polys and it was divided 5 times to give around 800,000 polys and I successfully generated a normal map of the difference.

Today I reloaded the saved ZTool, divided one more time to just over 3m polys and refined my character. However when I came to producing the normal map, I found that the model only had two levels - 800,000 polys and the 3m+ level, the lower levels had somehow disappeared, along with the UV map.

Has anyone come across this - did I do something wrong, and more importantly, can I get this higher level onto my original mesh without having to spend hours re-doing the sculpt?! I have two saved versions, the one that I saved from a few days ago - this seems to have the UVs and 5 subdiv levels intact, and the latest sculpt with the highest previous level plus the extra one that I created.
