Help - I can only paint with white - ???!

A lot has changed in the latest version of Zbrush, and I haven’t been able to figure out what I’m doing wrong here.

I created a plane with black selected in my color palette. The plane looks white. Puzzled, I dropped it to the canvas, chose the simple brush, and tried to paint it black. I made sure I had MRGB selected, with the RGB intensity slider set to 100, and started painting away. No black. Only white. I tried picking red. No red, only white. I could see depth being added to my plane, but no color.

With black selected, I tried to “fill layer” with black. But I still have just my white plane.

In older versions of Zbrush, I never had any problem figuring out how to simply put color on the canvas. But this has me stumped!

Can anyone generously lend me a clue?

can’t believe no one has tried to answer you. Have you sorted this out yet? My question is - what material are you using? I know of at least one material that doesn’t show any color information… bumpviewer. Maybe you are using some material that does this as well. otherwise, I have no idea.

Thanks, Slosh!

It seems that my problem was that while I was clicking on the color palette, I had neglected to click on the “foreground color” box as well, so the color I was working with didn’t change.
