Hi guys
I am trying to decimate a heavy mesh(31 mil polys) and I always get Runtime error.
Is there a way to overcome this one?
My machine has 32 Gb of memory.
I really hope there is a solution.
Thank you!
31 million isn’t that large actually.
What’s your memory settings for Zbrush?
Which version of Zbrush and Decimation master are you using?
I would just break the mesh into pieces personally.
If your decimation master is running in 64bit how much memory is actually being allocated during the process?
Thanks for the reply Beta_channel!
I use 4R8 P2. I tried compacting the memory and still didn’t work. While trying to decimate it Zbrush used just half of my RAM memory. I guess I am using the 64 bit Decimation Master as I don’t have an option of choosing another one. BTW Keep UVs is on.
Have you tried breaking the model into subtools so you don’t have to cache the entire model?
I haven’t tried this. I will try it and then I will merge them all into one mesh. Thanks again.
I separated the mesh into 3 parts and managed to decimate them. Then I merged them again and now I have just one mesh. I tried everything and this was the only possible way to do it. At last, now I can import it into Substance Painter and start painting the textures.
Thanks for the help. I appreciate it!
Cheers
