i just loaded a file i worked on long ago and found that it has none of the lower-resolution levels…is there any way to get these back after they have been deleted?
thanks!

i tried that…and it did nothing
any other approaches?
You could do a remesh all I think with a really low sub level…divide that a bunch then do a project all and then you should have a new model that goes from really low res to really high.
Then somewhere along the way you altered the model after you deleted your subdivisions. if you have a low obj version of that model. you can re import, and it will give you a message saying “if you would like to transfer the hi res information over to your new base?” Say yes. If it doesn’t give you that message you might need to have divisions on your current single res model, so you might want to divide one more time before you re import your really low model, but go to your first sub div when you subdivide. hopefully your model isn’t crazy high, and it crashes if you try to subdivide one more time.
The other options… like G-Dub stated, is retopo, or project all button… one takes a while, and the other one doesn’t give you the topology you want.
i was afraid of that. retopo too labor intensive
And yep, its super high-res will probably crash if I try one more subdiv, but I’ll try as you suggest and see what I can get. Thanks again everyone…
if you have mudbox 2012 they just put a new feature in that where u can import a highres and recreate a bunch of lower sub levels… played around with it alil seems it should be really helpful!.. i know this is a zbrush forum but what ever helps right!
probs wont make a blind bit of difference…Have you tried…Texture-EnableUV-AUVTiles and then try using the reconstruct button? That was a thing I found out way back when…it never worked for me…unless I did this. Let me know.
