Hello Everybody/Noob Questions

Hi Everybody!
Im Peter,
I’m 15 years old, and I’m about to go into my sophomore year in high school.
I use Zbrush 3, and I’ve been playing with it for a whole 3 days.
My first actual model is a demon face, it’s not too detailed, because when I try and subdivide it again, it tells me that it has reached it’s cap per mesh. So I go into Preferences (I think), and change the setting it told me to, and then subdivide the head again. This time it subdivides but then the computer slows down to a snails pace.
So my first question is: What can I do to fix this for future models?

So now I’m happy with my model for now, and I’m ready to paint it. I know that Zbrush comes with a coloring tool, but where is it and how do I use it?

And my final question, which now I think I probably should have asked first, is how do I select my model after saving. Last night, I finished my model, and so I saved it using the Documents menu. This morning when I went to load it again, the model is there, but I cant edit it. I’ve tried hitting T, and the edit button but it doesn’t work. How can I fix this?
Also, when I saved the model last night, I tried rotating the head to look at it, and there was suddenly a duplicate that was rotating. What happened? I just exited Edit Mode, and deleted both and drew another one with the tool.

I am very confused, so any help is very welcome!

Thanks and sorry for how long this is,

Peter

Rather than trying to divide a model past what your computer can handle, it’s best to split it into multiple SubTools. This lets you get more polygons and more detail, without killing your computer.

To save a model for sculpting later, use Tool>Save As. Document is for 2D. Tool is for 3D.

Regarding painting – and other questions you’re going to come across – see the movie tutorials and online documentation. Links are in my signature.

Thank you so much!
This should get me going
