HellBull

Happy Halloween zbrushcentral! I started this sculpt just to play with the planar brushes, and just kept going for a while. Hope you like it, I am still working on this sculpt so crits and comments are welcome. Thanks for looking.

This is coool =D

Can someone please tell me how to get my thumbnail working? I attached the image and changed the tag but no dice…Thanks

this looks great zacm

just wanted to ask if that is all one piece, or did you model parts in max/maya and do detail work in zbrush,

the reason im asking is if you did sculpt the entire thing in zbrush, try to give it more deep cuts and gaps, and try to reduce some detail parts,keep some flat planes with screws or something to keep it balanced, it almost looks like there was a helmet and this is what it looks like when you open it up.

i was waiting for someone to drop some 3.5 hardsurfacing. keep up the good work, this looks promising.

Thanks Farazmobin! Yea the whole thing was done in zbrush. I started with one piece and ended up breaking it up into a few subtools to get more resolution. I agree about needing some clean parts, I did start to feel like the mechanical stuff was getting too busy, but its just so much fun to make! I’ll do some tests with dialing it back in places, thanks for the tip.

also how much is scuplt and alphas. thanx again

No alphas actually, mostly just painting masks, clay or layer brush, then flatten brush. I do plan on using more alphas next time I’m doing hard-surface in zbrush though. Cheers.

nuts

I wish I had more hands! :+1: :+1:

Wow those hard surface look so neat!.:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:
I didnt do too well with the planar i guess i need to see someone going at it first, also have really no creativity for tech kinda stuff .

Did you have too use alot of subdivs to get the sharp details, when i used the planar brushes i felt i needed to go an extra stretch then organic modeling to get sharp details, maybe was me i duno.

anyways great job :slight_smile:

Thanks everyone :D!!

@Sathanael: Thank you:) I did have a pretty heavy mesh for the helmet section, the final subtool was around 9 Million polys. However in the future I would avoid having to divide the mesh that high by breaking the shapes down into multiple subtools were there is a natural seam. That would allow me to make more and sharper details.

I’ll have more work with the planar brushes coming soon, but now for something completely different. This character is based on concept art by Rhode Montijo. This one is also under construction, so please critique. Thanks!

Cute character. Love the style and expression. Cant wait to see him posed.

I like the direction of the first character. I’m on a mac, so I’m very jealous of those using the new planar brushes and tools in 3.5 :wink: The mechanical parts look like a lot of fun to have made. The second character reminds me of the animated characters they had in those Kleenex commercials a few years back. Great work so far on both of these… can’t wait to see more!

@Danconia: Thank you!
@Adan Muratoff: Thanks, the planar brushes are alot of fun…but at you have Goz, right? I’m not sure which kleenex commercials you mean, but I’m gonna check it out, thanks!

And thank you to the mod who hooked me up with a better thumbnail:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

So sweet! :slight_smile:
Great work!

Its nice to see how well you can vary your style, very impressive.

@Beholder: Thank you:D
@Rawsunlight: Thanks!!!

Here is some more work with the planar brushes. This one was fun, just slicing away at a very simple base mesh until I started to see some type of mech-helmet emerge. My next step would be to retopo and divide into a few separate sub-tools so I can add more details.
