Head to Body seam will not smoothen out *Single Tool* - Help Appreciated

Hey guys :slight_smile:

I’m a noobie to Zbrush, but I’ve actually got a nice model going on. My problem is this;
Even though I merged my model’s head and body together, the two pieces simply won’t blend. I’ve tried making them all one PolyGroup, I’ve tried Subtool Master Merging, and also tried Merge Visible. Nothing I’ve tried is working and it’s been a problem for 2 days now (even though the model is a SINGLE tool) :cry: If I use the InFlate brush, one of the pieces will just pop out through the other (same goes for Smoothing).

So its as if they are two different meshes, even after I merged them…? :frowning: I just want to blend them together normally.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I’ve looked for a long time.

Here’s the screenshot of what I’m talking about:

Merging in that manner will merge subtools together, but they remain as separate polygon islands. If you want one continuous mesh, retopology will be in order. This can be done manually to preserve an existing edgeflow, or if you’re cool with brand new topology, then it can be very quickly accomplished using dynamesh, remesh, qremesh, etc.

Thanks for the response Cryrid. I’ll give that a shot tonight. But won’t dynamesh make me lose all my detail?

You might lose some, depending on the extent of the detail.

There are things you can do to help prevent this though. You could try increasing the dynamesh resolution, lowering the blur amount and turning on the project option. Or you could try dynameshing a duplicate subtool at a decent resolution, turning off dynamesh, subdividing it until you have enough geometry to contain the original detail, and then using the Project All feature.

Awesome.:smiley: Cause I need to recreate her lower subdivision levels also. I’ll try out everything you said. :slight_smile: I tried the first dynamesh option you said, but her head still seemed to be separate.

Thanks for the help!:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

The only problem I’m having now is that when she gets remeshed, her fingers and toes are fused… Any idea on how to fix that?

Nevermind! Fixed it. (11/8/12)
