great works !
Thank you so much for the information
Great stuff man!
I do like the second one a lot. I have to say it feels like all of the heads have the ear way too far back on the skull making the jaw too elongated towards the back of the head IMO…
i think all the heads are awesome but i might have to agree with intervain about the ears. awesome job man.
Woah… great stuff!
very cool
Hey guys, thanks for all the positive replies. I totally agree with Intervain’s comment actually looking at it now we did spit these heads out fairly fast, taking about 1.5~2day for each sculpt and texture, so i think there’s still much room for refinement. Here are a couple more…

wow !
great models
Even the hair are looking good .
Are they photo painted in zbrush ?
Hasnz thanks! We go with the approach of modeling and texturing simultaneously; models look much better when model/texture merge. So we’d sculpt in the general forms, texture, sculpt secondary forms, touch up textures then refine and add superficial details. Most of the textures will be based on 3dsk reference, and the models are based on concept art.
great work, really nice detail. Didn’t know we had that many next gen game studio’s around australia, really impressive stuff.
it’d be awsome to see some wip’s or somthin like that if you got any, sounds like a good workflow you guys got (and crazy fast too :P).
all the best,
chris
thanks seon and nizza_waaarg, cos these were all done quite quickly there might not be that many wip files saved… i’ll see what i can find to show. I might at least put up some base mesh / gray model stuff later…
looking really good guys.
hey chih-han hsu! -haven’t seen anything new from you, since you did “tiny”.
glad to see you around.

Whoa man great characters, some really cool poly painting.
abyss103: thanks man, awesome and surprised you recognize my older works!
andy.chen, JiChi, PaulZB, aesis412: Cheers and respect.
As many replies has mentioned wanting to see my workflow/wip, i’ve put together a WIP collage showing various stages of my head modelling.
1A & 1B:This is the base mesh I used to start the head, we have an inhouse head-gen tool which allow us to make medium rez base meshs fast. I can’t go into the details but it spits out a 96640poly head, it also has a standard UV.
2: I start by sculpting symetrically the main characteristics and major forms…
3: … texture portions of the face. Using the texture as reference, I’ll refine the forms further more and maybe add some landmark wrinkles.
4A & 4B: texturing the hair and tiny refinements to the face.
5A & 5B: sculpting in major forms to the hair.
6A & 6B: sculpting in seconary forms to the hair. Also adding more detail to the face.
7A & 7B: final clean up and displacing pores using the texture.
The result is a head where modelling and texturing merge perfectly, giving you a more believable head. Well I believe so anyway hope you like it.
=O awsome, thanks for sharing this with everyone and for the notes. Results turned out great, very cool workflow (really wanna try somthin like this :P).
all the best,
chris
