hdrop’s thread

AA-ron Yes, in the Teeth render there’s sss on the skin and the teeth. In the Salome image there is a little sss on the skin.

very cool, i really like the way they turned out. would you mind posting the maps you used for the sss? ive been trying to learn about sss and trying to get half ways decent results with sss (in lightwave) so but havent mad much luck.
i know cinema4d and lightwave are different, but how do you gauge how far the epidermis should be from the subdermis?

@AA-rom Well I know that the sss capabilities of Cinema4D are not as good as those of other software. Cinema’s sss is prone to artefacts and hard to manage. There is no standard “skin shader” or something like that in Cinema.
Anyway, here are the maps I used. On the left the map I put in the color channel of the skin material. I put the map on the right in the luminance channel combined with the sss shader.

Take a look at this skin tutorial. You might find it helpfull.

Thanks for posting that! I guess itll take me some trial and error to get it zoned in, but your maps and the link you provided has helped a lot.
Look forward to seeing more.

Here’s a wip image of my new project.

left: basemesh made in Cinema 4D
middle: sculpt
right: sculpt with skin texture layer.

Things to do:
add more detail on the forehead,
add more asymmetry
revise and extend skin texture in places
…???

A new wip image. This is a test render in Cinema 4d. Using a displacement map and a texturemap cgeated in ZBrush. I’m quite happy with the way the polypainting is working in the skin.

Excellent fantasy piece, and great choise of colors.vibrant…:+1:

[blacksmith_900x1000.jpg]

I started this image just as a ZBrush sketch of the characters head. As I was working on it I came up with the idea to do the body as well. So I created a low res body in Cinema 4D and projected the head-sculpt on the new mesh. I painted the skintextures in ZBrush. Other textures, lighting, hair and rendering were done inside Cinema 4D. I rendered all lights as separate passes so I could easily change them in Photoshop. In the end I didn’t change them much. I just added some blur to the background and to the chains and painted the fire in the lower left corner and added glow to the hot metal in Photoshop.

This is the Blacksmith in true rendered size.

Nice job! :+1:

Damn cool work

It’s great, but I think it could use some work on the teeth which right now look like Chiclets.

Wonderful job, incredible work.

This is a portrait of Collie Entragian, a character in Stephen Kings novel “Desperation”. Entragian is the self-made sheriff of a town called Desperation. His body is hijacked by the demonic creature Tak. One of the effects of this posession is the quick decomposition of his physique…

I think Etragian is one of Stephen Kings most menacing villains, certainly my favourite. Software used: Cinema 4D R12, ZBrush4 and Photoshop My goal was to create a menacing portrait. It was a last-minute decision to desature the render almost completely. I think that the bleached look greatly enhances the menacing look. ![desperation_1000px.jpg|778x1000](upload://kbVD7R7R8RRzXA2KY0Ve2lEJ7OW.jpeg) Thanks for watching!

This is Top Row, 5 star material. (Getting eaten by dragons presently, I guess).

Wonderful sculpt and render!

:+1:

Dude! Sick work! That bust really captures the utter creepiness of the book and its characters. Top row!

Hello ZBrushers

Here are some silver 3D printed skull rings I designed.

3rings.jpgmask_skull_ring2.jpgmech_skull_ring1.jpgstylized_skull_ring01.jpg
They were produced by Shapeways. I made the rings using Cinema 4D an ZBrush 4. Decimation Master comes in handy as Shapeways has a maximum polycount of 1.000.000 for uploaded .stl files.
More images (and the rings!) are available in my Shapeways Shop.
I did not like the high gloss finish of the silver so I blackend them with household bleach.
