HD geometry questions

I’m just exploring the option of HD geometry so that my computer can handle higher resolutions that subdivisions can’t and I got a few questions.

  1. Is there a way of deleting HD geometry levels after they are applied?

  2. Does HD geometry work when using projectall? Meaning, projecting a low res subdivided mesh onto the High Res HD mesh.

  3. Does HD geometry transfer colour, displacement and normal info into textures correctly or is it restricted to just to the usual subdiv level geometry?

I want to be able to have my computer (which can’t handle more than a million polygons on screen without immensestraining on the system) be able to produce higher res texture transfer without having my system suffer. Knowing more about HD geometry will be useful.

Cheers,

Hi Revanto, regarding question 1) yes, that´s possible.
Use the [color=paleturquoise]SubTool-Master Plugin and duplicate your model.
The duplicated model won´t have HD-Geometry.

Regarding question 2+3 – erm, I have no idea  but here are links for more infos about HD-Gometry:

http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/HD_Geometry_Controls

If you want to render HD-Geomtry for a movie or a turntable
download the Turntable Plus Plugin. You can also do some other cool things with it. Here´s the link where you can get it:

Hope that helps a little bit and I´m sure somebody else will answer the other questions.

HD geometry is used strictly within ZBrush. It does not translate to textures and such for other apps.

What you should do in your case is break the model up into SubTools. This will allow you to have more polygons than you could handle with a single SubTool. You should also hide portions of the mesh that you’re not actively working with. If ZBrush doesn’t have to render something, that’s more resources for what you’re working on.

why Geometry is very smaller Cycle
