Harden/Soften Normals

Anyone know where this option is located in Zbrush 3.1 or if it is even an option?

depends on what you mean by hardening the normals I suppose.

do you mean to not smooth the object and maintain each face normal during subD levels?

or do you mean having a render setting that displays the normals as smoothed based on a certain angle?

I was thinking more like in Maya/polygons/normals/soften edge. I’m bringing in a fairly dense environment and dont’ want to have to subdivide it, just soften the hardened edges. I’ve been told Zbrush doesn’t do this, was looking for a second opinion. Thanks.
