Hard Surface Zbrush - Creasing and selecting questions

Hey guys, I’m a beginner modeler coming in from Maya/Mudbox. After seeing some of the revolutionary new stuff Zmodeler and Shadowbox could do I decided to switch to Zbrush. I have various small questions about the Zmodeler tool that I haven’t found online.

For example, in this sphere I want to select a few edge loops and crease them. First I used masks->polygroups->crease polygroup edges, but this is a fairly roundabout process, and it also creases the inner edge of the group. Is there a way to select a single edge loop with Zmodeler? I’ve tried the Edge Loop target, but as you can see in the example it selects the downwards edgeloops and not the ones here.

A second questions, what is the best practice for selecting large amounts of faces for Zmodeler? I understand you can alt+click them into a polygroup but this becomes problematic as I divide and go into higher polycounts.

Thanks in advance!

hey, how did u create the polygroups?
you could select the rings u need with the lasso tool (click on the edge of the ring)
create a pg and
> crease by polygroup

hope that helps for question 1

In zModeller, hover over an edge in the loop you want creased. Press space to bring up the menu. Make sure crease is selected and also, poly loop (I think it is). Click and you’re done.
