Hard Surface Detailing problem

Hi Guys, My name is liNus, and this is my first post/thread on zbrush central and its sad that it starts with asking for help… I did a model in maya (the image uploaded) and I am having a serious problem detailing the model, for example, some parts of the models are rotated and placed at different positions, it’s difficult to use symmetry and radial symmetry to sculpt on them… it usually goes wild when I try to use it And secondly the model is below 5k polygons, I did a test and the projection of details was not pleasing… it was just distorted… ***61516; Any help rendered in this regard will be appreciated.
