Handlebar's Sketchbook

Hi folks, just getting back into zbrush again after a long break learning other stuff. I modeled the base mesh for this guy for a blender challenge and thought it would be nice give it the zbrush treatment.

Really nice job <img src=“http://www.zbrushcentral.com/pixo/atn.gif”>

try to show the character from other views as well because it gives a better definition to the character. Other shaders also well help understand the character form.

Great form, wonderful character… look forward to seeing it completed!

Eiad Thanks, here’s the other views with a different shader, he’s caricaturised a fair bit.

RawSunlight, I doubt if i’ll take the character much further, i was just using him to get used to zbrush again. Never say never though, i might pick him up again at a later date.head-2.jpg

Been experimenting with 2,5d lately, heres a quick sketch of something that will evntually be a much larger image.

Started to work on some procedural textures for my scene. I used the free Mapzone for these, still have a lot more to produce. Thanks for looking.

Nice job on that head…Has that great Da Vinci look and character to it…:+1:
I like the rock formation also…has alot of depth to it already…Looking forward to seeing where you go with it…:+1:

SpiritDreamer Thanks, the above rock sketch was just a doodle to see if what i wanted to do was possible, the scene i’m working on now will be much different.

Here’s a little update to show how i sculpt the rocks. I don’t use brushes for sculpting, just alphas and drag rect, plus deformers.

Cool rock, It reminds me of the rocks in the first Diablo! I also like how you use alphas sounds interesting and I think I will give it a try. Keep up the coolness!

Vancross Thanks, here’s how i’m going about poly painting.
I make one large image of all the textures i want to use then crop and fill the canvas with it. I then use the zproject brush to paint from the dropped texture. I’ve got so many of these to do so it seemed like a good way to get things done quickly.

rock_textures.jpg

That’s pretty smart doing it that way. It seems to me that you could do an entire floor of rocks at once with such a method. Then there is that new way of texturing in 3.5 that you could try. But, since I am on a Mac—I don’t know too much about it.

Absolutely the way to do it! Then you just rotate the rock, move it, and paint on details / paint out seems as you see them… got to love zbrush!
looking good

wow that dudes beak is enormous

Idea didn’t work so i deleted the post

wow neat tip on sculpting rocks, and they look good too! thanks!

A little 2.5d landscape sketch. I’m just exploring and having fun.

landscape.jpg

really like that landscape pic, nice technique:)

Coolness! You should have a dragon or something flying through it.

I like 2.5d landscape sketch but i want to make some other sketch.please tell me how you make this sketch, which type of materiel you have use?

Thanks folks, glad you like my little brain burbs.

Alexjems41 Here’s a quick tut on the process i used. The shader is by undoz called blin_realtime_flat2. I then use render adjustments to get the color and feel i want, along with some poly painting. Hope that helps.
