Looking good, this is coming a long nicely. Good work keep it up!
Excellent. I’d say you’re about 98% there. Alas, this uncanny valley has most of us trapped.
Very nice work.
I do see a small problem with the skin color.
The creases in the hand are very blue vs red.
Now where the arteries cross under the creases there will be some blue in it, but still mostly red in tint.
Hands, the most difficult part of the human body to get right it seems.
We can even look at our own without the aid of a mirror (vs faces), yet we still manage to make some fairly common and big mistakes.
I can’t tell quite if you’ve made one of the most common mistakes. the webbing between the fingers, which seems to confuse so many artists.
Edit: on second look it looks like you have the webbing right, but the proportion is off making the finger to palm ratios off a bit
Instead of measuring from the back of the hand for middle finger = 1/2 wrist to tip ratio it looks like you applied it on the palm side where the fingers total length is more concealed
thats some amazing work. 5 star work, seriously!!

Hey Greg,
You know what I think about your work, but I’ll say it again: it looks beautiful!
Wow I didn’t see the first renders, photo real indeed
Excellent! What kind of settings did you use for the material of the nails? :qu:
The first shot looks uncanny. There is definitely something odd to it but I can’t put my finger on it.
Amazing work and renders!nice hand job no pun inteded ehehe
Cheers everyone!
Hehe, it’s based on my hand, so I think of the lines as being normal, but you’re probably right, it’s quite possible that they are unusual. It’s also quite possible that I didn’t sculpt the lines in the hand very accurately. I find it almost an impossible challenge trying to get all the subtleties right. The real thing seems to change so much depending lighting, pose, blood flow, whether I’ve just had a shower, etc. It becomes really hard trying to work out specifically what needs changing.
Did you mean too much oiliness or too little?
Cheers, I’ll make the creases a touch more red. I find that the amount of red in the creases changes a lot depending on pose, I’ve got a few different sets of maps for different poses. I mostly eyeballed the proportions, so they are almost certainly a bit off. I quickly got out the calipers and checked just then, and I think the middle finger to wrist ratio is correct, perhaps my hands are just weird?:o;)
The fingernails are the same as the skin, but slightly more reflective, and the reflection glossiness is higher on the nails. It’s just one material, the differences come from the maps.

Great Renders.can you please show us the maps you used in the SSS meterial.
Looks amazing Greg! Now i feel like crying in the corner.

Very nicely done. Great job! The skin does look a bit ‘dry’ though. Or maybe that’s just because I’m used to looking at my own girlie, moisturised hands
Thats very impressive! You know anybody would have thought it was real if it was on any other website! The only give away would be the hairs on the knuckles in that one shot. But again if it was on any other website people would have thought that there’s spray paint stuck to the hairs on that hand and still think it was real.
great stuff Greg
Wow…just wow.
those hands are so good they could be used as a Gen reference!
great job!
Those are some kick-ass hands. Very well done!
