"Hand" new project!

Hi guys!!

I’ve started modeling this hand using Maya (block-anim) and zbrush. Since doing modeling is pretty new to me, I would like to have some constructive comments, anything I can feed myself with to push it further !! Please do not hesitate to draw on top of my images so I can have a visual picture going with your comments!! it is just the begining so I will keep you posted as I go!!

thanks a lot for your help !!

Hey steph
That’s looking pretty good, I would try to continue the form structure into the
forearm. There’s so much tension in the hand but the forearm doesn’t really
indicate the muscle tension.
Either that or hide the forearm from the wrist down.
All in all a really great start.

the hand looks cool like a zombie hand ,to me.the tip of the finger looks dented inwards a bit to much, but maybe thats how you want it anyway goodwork

googled up an arthritic hand…

Keith Richards?

very nice work on that hand btw.

verry nice!!! Why don’t you put some veins on, it should look great…

are you going for a normal humen hand? or a sick or zombied one?

thanks for all of the comments that’s exactly what I was looking for!! I will get into it and send an update as soon as possible!!!

doron: I am going for a sick, realistic, dramatic and stylised human hand… I am trying to get the muscles and bones more sculpted then usual to make it more interesting and dramatic… My idea comes from an anatomic drawing book by Burne Hogarth…

Hey, great details. I don’t know if you’re going for a human hand, but if you are take a look at these references for the distal phalanx. The nail bed is quite superficial, there’s bone all the way down to the tip of the finger, right below the nail.

Keep it up!

Hey nice update.
I like it!
It reminds me of a witch I’ve been working on and off now for awhile.
It’s got lots of style and flare.
Keep going, devide that baby up higher and get into detailing.

Very creepy, nice job. I wonder how the handmodel feels about that? Hmmm…

Very inspiring, though! :+1:

5 stars! Fantastic work! One of the coolest hand I have seen! Love the coloring too. Was that by hand? Or did you use photo textures in zbrush to make the uv color map?

Great job. I love the way to made the bone structure, as well as the veins. it is very impressive

That is really a very good work!!!
What kind of mappings did you use?
color, Displace, Normal??? is it a Zbrush rendering?

thanks for your comments!! it’s always good to know people like your work!!

[womball] I used photoshop and bodypaint to do the color. I used bits and pieces of many pictures as a base then hand paint on top of them… A lot of layers and blending later, there’s usually nothing left of the base pictures I’ve started with!! Hope this answers your question!!
