Awesome job! Really like the muscles, keep up the good work:D
that is really cool… i like to see nice clean looking work…
good job
Absolutely amazing! Just beautiful modeling.
…
Very good work of anatomical modeling
Congrats
great work! look forward to seeing more
Thanks for the latest comments, I am still bashing away at this model trying to get as many muscles in as I can. I have added the ribcage so that I can build the rest of the back muscles on. Does anyone know how to make a transparent material by any chance.

I have added a few of the larger superficial muscles, still need to put in some of the large deep muscles on the back, the model is now 33.6 million polys at the highest subdivision level so is starting to get a bit slower, the base mesh is tiny though

Looking nice. You have some proportion issues happening. The cranium of the skull should be a a little wider than the jaw, you have them at about the same width. The shoulder/bicep area should be thicker from the side view. I’m sure you’ll spot more stuff once you get more muscles in there.
The lower part of your transverse abdominal looks wrong. The muscle fibers don’t flow all in one direction. They spiral out from a point in the back I believe.

They also form a bulge at the waist.

Fantastic work though.
This is looking great and its good to see you have tackled the forearm straight on as there are so many muscles to place there. Its really nice to see what your doing and that you are sharing it and inspiring others. I have yet to post my later work on the human body as I am very busy these days working on a book which is of course about the human body and so that is keeping me very busy as its to be completed for next year. I am hoping to negotiate my time better so that I can produce I nice skin system, and so I look forward to seeing yours for some inspiration ;-).

Hi
Thanks dustinbrown, I have brought the jaw in a bit and widened the cranium, looks better now I think, I also adjusted the pelvis to look more male.
Womball, thanks alot for the links, that illustration really helped, I didnt realise how much of a bulge there is at the bottom of it.
Hi Arran, thanks for the comment, im a big fan of your work, your thread was one of the reasons I started using zbrush, good luck with the book cant wait to see what you have come up with.

small update, I have cloned a few of the subtools to check the proportions, added a few head and neck muscles. The head and neck is the area I am really going to concentrate on next.

awsome stuff man. impressive details.
Hey man,
This is one of the few posts I’ve subscribed to because the modeling is detailed and it’s inspirational to see how much work you’ve put into this project. I can’t believe you’ve been modeling each muscle individually. After seeing this post I modeled a skull into great detail and did all of the muscles (surface and deep) for it, and that took me a long time, but I learned a lot.
I was wondering if you have worked any more on it and if you have any updates. If not, I encourage you to continue your progress because it looks amazing so far. When I get time this summer, I intend on starting to model a skeleton and going into the muscles like you’ve done because I know how valuable a learning tool it can be.
Best,
Greg
Hi Greg
I have to admit I have not done much on this model for a while, it has got really big in terms of polycount which makes it a bit difficult to work on, I will have to find a way of simplifying it but keeping the details.
I also wanted to find a way of merging the subtools into one clean mesh instead of them overlapping so I can sculpt the muscles striations.
I did start sculpting a new skull which is much more accurate as I based it on CT data which I am going to try building the muscles on to. Its interesting to see what face appears from a made up skull like this. How did yours go have you done a thread of it.
thanks for the comments.

I think mine turned out good, and I definitely learned a lot. I wanted to take a facial modeling class with clay, but it got canceled so I decided to teach myself a little.
I modeled the different sections of the head as subD surfaces which I’d only done in car modeling before. It was cool doing this because the seams and the flow worked well on the model. Then I added the superficial and surface muscles as basic blocks and modeled those in ZB as well as the skull.
The final result looked like your final posting before my comment, with a little more detail in the muscle fibers (I guess that’s not saying too much though, as you didn’t put any detail into those yet). My skull doesn’t look nearly as good as your finished skull though. Maybe I can revisit it and add more detail, especially in the seams on the skull.
I have been redoing the skeleton and building some of the internal organs, I will post some of the screen shots later. I have also found a nice way of creating detailed vascular structures using a tree script in blender. Once I have sculpted the outside of the lungs I will fill them with these blood vessels and bronchial tubes. (only a test at the moment but I think I will be able to control the direction and get it quite accurate)
Wow.
woow man, I can´t tell yet if you´re a TOTAL GENIUS, or if you are a complete nut case! hehe.
either way, your work rocks!
