GrpSplit causing instant crash

I have my mesh with 2 layers. One is main sculpt, the other is detail. The mesh in question has 2 Uv maps.

I produce my Displacment maps, then went sculpted the higher detail on the other layer.

Finnaly I turned off sculpting layer, went down to Sub D lev 1 switch morph target and hit grpsplit, instant crash. A few times it didnt, but most times it does. When it down crash iv lost all by restored morph targets.

Its a shame I cant just hide a part to produce Normal maps.

Vista Ultimate 64, 8gb ram, q6600. IP35 pro motherboard.

Havent a clue why it ended up here, I was in question section?

How many polygons does the model have at its highest level?

8 million polys at its highest.

I’m having the same exact problem. Did you ever figure it out?

No never did know what caused it. Zbrush just didnt like a certain mesh, it works on other meshes.
