The model I’m working on has it’s UV’s laid out in 3 different UV ranges, which I did in Max. I used the UV groups to create the polygroups. I had planned to use the method of hiding all but one polygroup at a time and creating the normal maps that way, but I was getting some nasty problems with the normal maps. The UV’s were still laying on top of each other. I then read that hiding polygroups no longer works in 3.5.
I then learned that you can simply use Groups Split to separate the polygroups and generate the normal maps that way. However, the Groups Split button is grayed out. Nothing is masked or hidden when when trying to use the Groups Split. I’ve also tried the model at the lowest and highest sub’d’s but the button stays grayed out. The only thing I can think of causing it to be grayed would be the fact I am using HD divisions.
Any help or ideas anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
