I would like the fibers to follow the line I draw but the fibers are always pushed towards the camera… is it normal? Also, is it possible to tweak the density of the brush? I have the impression that it is always 100%, no matter if I change the density itself…

The Groom brushes are very sensitive and sometimes need to be used at very low % settings. Personally, I find it better to first have the hair divided up into groups so that only small areas I want to Groom are affected by the brushes.
I found out that the groom brushes were very effective on mid / long hair… On short hair, it’s just not very usefull… 
Short hair as in crew cut? How much can you actually style short hair? You are making the hair in manageable ‘patches’? Lots of parameters in the Fibermesh panel to play with before you have to commit to anything…maybe sculpting the details with an alpha would suit your purpose better.
