graphics tablet

Hi there.

So I have another problem with zbrush 3.1. I have a real old graphics tablet. Intuos wacom running under vista 64 bit. Funny thing is this… The tablet works fine with everything except zbrush where it doesn’t work at all. Use to work under xp in zbrush no problem. Now if I have zbrush minimized the pen works, once I maximize zbrush. It doesn’t.

Any ideas to why this is happeneing. The use tablet is selected in preferences.

Thanks in advance.

Joey

Are you using a 64 bit version of ZBrush and the other programs are 32 bit? That may be the problem but I’ve never come across any problems.

Chances are is because it is an older tablet so there are bound to be some problems on a 64 bit machine unless they’ve released specific drivers.

Thanks for your reply. Well I didn’t know there was a 64 bit version of zbrush. I think my version of zbrush is 32 bit as far as I can tell. I just bought it this year and it installed under the x86 program menu in vista. I did notice that my tablet doesn’t really work in XSI 64 bit either. I guess I got to fork out for a new tablet.

Best,
Joey

Hi!
As far as I know and a reply to another post there isn’t a 64 but ZBrush. Its programmed to use maximum RAM anyway.

I have used several Wacom boards throughout the years and I think its the driver you use in combination with the fact it is old.

If I where you I would consider buying a new Wacom.
Why? Well the new ones have better resolution/higher Dpi and better configuration abilities.
Its also the fact that you are using a old hardware with a new system.

Best.

you may not need to go through all of that, wacom regularly updates drivers so check their site for newer drivers for your tablet

they have drivers up as recent as december 2008…your issue may very well be fixed

Any update on your Tablet issue, is it working? I was planning on installing Vista64 that came with my system and I have an old 1st gen Intuos that hopefully works.

Logically it should work, as long as you download the latest driver for it.
