graphics tablet or mouse???

how many people here uses graphic tablets ??? i just got a crap mouse. is it worth getting one? I am new to this zbrush stuff. Tho i have to admit zbrush looks a good program

Hi 3xtigy.

I think I can confidently say that just about everyone uses a tablet of
some kind with ZBrush.

You ‘can’ use ZB with only a mouse, but really only for working with low-res
meshes, and things like retopology work.

Some recently added ZBrush brushes (polish comes to mind) really don’t
work at all with a mouse.

But for sculpting and texturing, a tablet of some kind is a must. Some recently added ZBrush brushes (polish comes to mind) really don’t work
at all with a mouse. and yep, a decent one is kind of expensive.

Hi 3xtigy

If u check my work out it is all done with a mouse, no tablet, and my work is detailed, so u technically can achieve good work with a mouse.

However, it’s a pain in the @** apparently, according to people here, I wouldn’t know

I don’t know what it’s like to use a tablet but everyone here will tell u to use one, or rather once u do there’s no going back I guess but I wouldn’t know

@grey2, seriously, some brushes don’t work right with mouse u say? No wonder why I gave up on polish brush with my mouse!

Man i seriously need a tablet, it just might be that boost to my work personally!

So yea 3xtigy go for tablet!!

Tablet, can’t stress it enough.

I’ve been using a tablet in one form or another for about 6 years in 2D work (illustrations and the like) and have come to rely on it for the fine control you have over brushes and the general ‘more natural feel’ to it over a mouse.

As a disclaimer, I only recently stepped into the 3D realm and only very recently to ZBrush so I can’t speak with authority on the 3D aspect, but I
also can’t really see myself doing it with just a mouse.

I pushed pixols with a mouse for years. It’s doable, and you can get really good results with some patience, but a tablet really does make a big difference. (Even a cheap tablet is better than a mouse as long as it has pressure sensitivity.)
I had to force myself to use the tablet for a couple of days before I really got the hang of it. It was really counter-intuitive, but I’ll never go back to sculpting with a mouse if I can help it.

Hi 3xtigy,

I definitely recommend a tablet to work with ZB. Previuolsy I used a Graphire 2 tablet, and last year I upgraded to a new Intuos 4 Small.
I know there are some artists able to work with mouse, but the experience and possibilities of a tablet with ZB are really noticeable.
Please also consider that at present there are in the market also quite cheap tablets, so you don’t necessarily need to spend a lot on it.

Ciao

tablet… if you can do well with a mouse, you will do better with a tablet… it’s a must if you are seriously into zbrush…there is no but
