Graphics Card Question Workstation etc

I recently got the funds to build a new work station. However I have always been a gamer.

I know the differences between WorkStation Graphics and High Performance Gaming. However I was looking at the ATI V8800 vs the ATI 5970:

however I simply can’t afford the $1500 price tag.

My question being, Should a ATI 5970 or Gaming Graphic Card be sufficient if all I am doing is basic modeling and importing them out of ZBrush into photoshop to paint over?

That is what my teacher does for his creature designs. I don’t think I will be doing anything too heavy as far as animating. Just posing and sculpting.

New here so sorry for the amateur question.

Cheers!

ZBrush doesn’t use the graphics card for rendering - it’s a software renderer. So there’s no point in spending lots of money on a graphics card for ZBrush.

Thank you. I just wanted to make sure. From what I have read is it true it only read up to 4GB of memory? Why is that? and when will they be releasing possibly a 64Bit?
