brettSinclair…very nice…but in proportion the lower part is a little short…
Hey skulll_monster Thanks for takin time to stop in .
Ye I know. I wanted the top to look more bulky. I’m not a 100% sure on monkey anatomy. A lot of this is “fudged” from my head. But do you think its too short? Cause I did shorten his legs on purpose. I wanted a between man and ape look I guess.
Here’s a new render. I created my disp map in zbrush. I used Fess’ quick code but changed the scale to auto as the A.D.Factor gave me an almost grey image. Sooo thank you Fess!
Then I couldn’t render it in mental ray as mental ray gave me the error of can’t read file format blah blah blah so I had to convert my 32 bit tiff image to a .map file format.
I exported my level 3, mesh as thats where I created my displacement map from, and added 1 smooth to it. Added the displacement shader. I tried 2.2 and -1.1 but it was too much. This render is 1 and -0.5 and took just over 10 min to render. Oh and I left feature displacement at normal settings, no approximation editors used.
The quick code is… DE-LCEK-EAEAEA-R32
Thanks for looking

i don’t know if anyone wrote his already but try turning
the displacement texture gausian filter off.
scott spencer you da man!
also maybe a little of the old “fix texture seams”
before or after you generate that map, not sure which.
edit
nevermind! i just saw the image above and that looks great!
no more slash marks!

I love the pic so far. He has such soul and personality. He could be good he could be bad. He could be wise or just plain run on instinct. The pose is very powerful and invokes many emotions. Love the texturing job you are doing he is becoming alive. My favorite is the neck and shoulders, the dry skin and wrinkles give it such a realistic texture. I love the eyes and the face, too. Wow what a wonderful creature. I really love how you incorporated man and beast. I personally won’t crit this for none is needed. Good job brettSinclair very good job indeed. Waiting in anticipation for his completion.
I love this guy. Nice pose, too!
Now, most of us are only allowed 24 hours in a day - How many do you get?
Seriously, you seem able to crank out a lot of critters in a short time.
Great stuff. I really like the first one, and the middle one, and the last one.
Heck, I like 'em all!
Looking really cool! Is he going to have any fur?

Fess: Thanks again for your help Fur? Hmmm. I thought of it. But I like the look he has. Any suggestions on where you’d add fur?
threetails: Hey buddy…yup I’m glad to…Things can start to move forward now. Yay! haha. Pressure is building on this piece. Still deciding if I should put him in a scene or just as a model presentation. Any ideas?
Thanks all

The portrait is really great!
Man that just keeps getting better. Reminds me of the classic horror flick, but without the silly costume look. This really is a nice piece.
