GoZ: Zbrush to Maya: Export polypaint (vertex color).

Hi,

I’d like to export my vertex color from zbrush to maya using Goz without success.
Is it possible to do so?

I even tried to export an obj from zbrush and import it back but the polypaint didn’t seem to import.

I’m used to bake my color map with Xnormal so I know zbrush export the polypaint in obj files, but how do you export it to other software?

Thanks

maya doesn’t read vertex color information as far as I am aware.

you’ll need to create UVs and a texture for maya.

Thanks, you are right. It seems that maya doesn’t import color vertex.
I tried to do the same with Zbrush and it doesn’t seems to import it too.
Too bad, color vertex is really usefull and polypaint rely on it.

About the uvs map, I went to this road but the mesh I have didn’t had any uvs, and crashed when using UVmaster.

If you’re crashing UV master you need to lower your tri-count on your lowest subD level.

you can use Zremesher to do this in a few clicks.

Hey, of course you can do that, the only thing you didn’t try was to export your model as a FBX (enable asii), then in Maya you need to do 2 steps,
1- select your model | open Attribute editor, inside the shape go to the arnold tab and under the export section enable de check box Export vertex colors.
2- create a standar Surface and assign it to your model, create an aiUserDataColor and type “colorSet0” ( inside Attribute ) and connect this node to the color ,

I wish I could answer your question a long time ago

IF it’s hard to understand, you can type How to Render zBrush Sculpts in Maya without UVs or Textures on youtube (I can’t add links here :frowning: )
