GOZ to C4D problems

Since zbrush 4 (on osx), goz doesn’t work very well for me, i explain:
zbrush to c4D ; the mesh open in c4d but without the maps (they have been created and appears in the Pixologic/GoZProjects/Default).
C4D to Zbrush ; simply doesn’t work even tough i made the script in C4D.

Can it be a conflict between the old 3.2 GoZ and the new one ?

Does anyone have the same issue ?

thanks

For the texture path problem…go Here and download the corrected scripts, the ones that ZB4 for mac installs are wrong.(maybe the PC ones as well i don’t know)

For the problem with sending a mesh from C4D to ZBrush…
IF this is an old mesh that you have sent to ZB with the old 3.2 version of GoZ in the past it may be that the file path written into the cinema4D file is incorrect.

This is something that i was having problems with and have just discovered the cause and an easy fix.
After reading a post here about problems someone was having with the maya version of GoZ,they posted the full maya script which is very well commented compared to the C4D version,i realised that GoZ is actually writing a File path into your C4D file…had no idea it did that till now but makes sense.

So basically if you used 3.2GoZ to send a mesh from C4D to ZB,then written into the C4D file is a file path to the original 3.2 GoZ project folder…whatever you do to the C4D file this file path remains.
When you hit GoZ button to send your mesh…it can’t find the file path and fails…

The fix: go to your Users/Shared/Pixologic/GoZProjects and change the folder name from GoZProjects to GoZ_Projects

Back in C4D hit the GoZ button to send your mesh(it should work, did for me) once your mesh is in Zbrush…go back to your GoZ_Projects folder and change the name back to GoZProjects…

Back in Zbrush hit the Goz Button to send your mesh…it should arrive in C4D,once it has, save the file…now the file path that is written into the C4D file is corrected.

Hope that helps a bit.
Cheers,
mala

hello Mala, tks for your reply.

it still doesn’t work for me!!
should i work with the:
users/shared/pixologic/GoZProjects
or
users/shared/Pixologic Backup from ZBrushOSX 4/Pixologic/GoZProjects

other question: in C4D 's script, i import the GoZBrushFromCinema4D.csc?
Am i right??

did you download the corrected scripts and does that fix the texture problem when going from Zbrush to cinema?

My 2nd answer, for the problem with sending a mesh from cinema to zbrush was only applicable if you had sent the same mesh from cinema using the old 3.2 GoZ…

AFAIK you should be working with: users/shared/pixologic/GoZProjects
not the backup folder.

yes you import the GoZBrushFromCinema4D.csc into cinemas script manager and then press the ‘save all’ button in the script manger and drag the icon into where you want in the tool bar/pallet

now it’s worse, i have made scripts replacement in pixologic folder and pixologic backup zbrushosx 4 folder . how can i make a full reinstall of GoZ and do i have to delete the pixologic backup zbrushosx 4 folder??:confused:small_orange_diamond:confused:

sorry for being stupid

Hi

Just for you information.
I had the same problems with first C4D/GoZ and
now after last update ZBrush -> C4D does not work at all.
Fires up C4D with an empty project.

How about polygroups? I found that sending model after some changes from Cinema to Zbrush via GoZ erases all assigned polygroups

I’m actually having a problem right now with what seems like normal directions. I was working on a complex model, sent it to ZBrush and back into C4D, the model looked fine in the model viewer, but rendered completely exploded and weird! Just to be sure, I sent over the same model and back without sculpting or changing it and the normal directions/Phong shading in C4D were all screwed up. The Phong tag showed that Angle Limit wasn’t checked and the Phong Angle wasn’t right, so I made it match the original but it still didn’t fix it.

Even with just a cube to test it I got the same result.

I’m using most recent C4D and ZBrush, OS X 10.6.4

Here only one way: C4D >ZBrush. Can’t use the ZB-preferences to select Cinema
