I’ve run into a strange bug where when I use GOZ to take an object from 3dsmax 2015 into Zbrush 4r6, there’s a random chance that GOZ will decide to replace a subtool previously imported through GOZ. The replaced object doesn’t share a name, position, or similar geometry.
This also happens even when I’m in a Ztool unrelated to any object from the scene I’m importing from. I can have a Zsphere selected in a separate Ztool, and it will go to Ztool I intend to work on, pick an object, and decide to replace it by bringing up the “Topology of the mesh has changed” dialog.
This is also a problem that has happened to be in 3dsmax 2011.
Anyone have any idea why this might be happening and how to make it stop?
EDIT: I just noted that when GOZ replaces an object, it keeps the name of the object the same, even though the geometry is completely different.
So, when I changed the name of the subtool that was being replaced in Zbrush, GOZ imported it the new object correctly without replacing any existing subtools.
A solution, but if anyone knows why it happens to begin with, I’d love to know how to avoid the problem.
