Goz problems

I finally finished my ‘masterpiece’ and want to export to max via goz…

  1. when exporting all subtools (about 60 of them) I find that ~10 are missing from the model when I get to max and that I have to import each of them one by one… when I start importing them one by one, others disappear from max and theres just general ‘odd behaviour’ preventing me from getting the whole thing over to max.

I asked on another forum and someone suggested it was a bug and to merge them -> import … then once imported un group them. I tested this on a ‘test’ subtool containing only 3 subtools and it worked great.

  1. BUT when I tried it (multiple times) on my 60+ subtool model, max and zbrush just hung for over 20 minutes and I ended up having to do a hard reset on the machine (not even being able to get a response from ctrl+alt+del)

Im guessing this is a memory issue ?

I have 6G of ram and the 6million poly model works fine in zbrush… I just really want to get it into max to texture each subtool individually and am finding it insanely difficult !

any suggestions ? do I have enough memory ? thanks

My guess is you’re hitting a ceiling with high poly counts in Max. Try bringing over your lower poly model into max and/or decimating in Zbrush. Don’t forget to save your model in Zbrush before decimating so you’ll retain the original topology and details.
