GoZ polygroups transfer?

Hi.

Does GoZ allow for the transfer of polygroups into Maya? If so, How?

Thx

No it does not keep polygroups.
But you have a way to keep your polygroups in any OBJ with UV´s. Using GoZ or oldskool methods
When having your polygroups in your model ready. Go to the UVMaster plugin and asure Polygoups is cheked, then click on Unwrap. This will create a fast UV layout with separate islands for each polygroup. Now when re-importing from Maya with GOz you will realize polygroups are lost as allways. But now you can recover your Polygroups in the Tool pallete Under Polygrops click on Auto Groups With UV.

Note:You can allways have 2 identical models with diferents Uvs Layouts. So then you can copy and paste from one to other if need to have diferent Polygrouping from the final UVs for texturing.

sir,
i have a daz model which has uv’s ,i grouped it in desired way and just like you told i unwrapped it with the desired polygroup islands. i then loaded identical model with same no of polygons and topology but with a different pose,i then copied the uv’s from the previous model and pasted them on the new model the uv’s are getting copied but the poly groups are not,and when i hit the autogroup with uv’s on the new model its not giving me the desired results. please kindly help

No explanation for that. If your mesh has UV islands, “Auto Groups with UV” button will give you polygroups based on the islands.
Press on Tool>UV Map Morph UV. If your flattened mesh is a single island there is the problem. If you have several islands then is a bug in your Zbrush.

the model which i am copying from has 3 distinct islands on flattening, but the model to which iam copying to is receiving the uv’s but not the polygrouping, i have tried other models too same thing…

how should i go about fixing it
