GoZ Installation and issues - Manual install

Awesome!

But does it work in 32-bit mode only? Has any one else gotten it to work with the 64-bit version of PS? I mean, ZBrush to PS works with both versions but sending the files back doesn’t. Why isn’t this mentioned in the manual? This happened while using a Mac.

No, I think it’s more a permission issue.
You don’t have to run ZBrush as an adminstrator, just run it like usual (not an administrator), then do again a path to Photoshop, then after selecting the good path, GoZ ask for the install in Photoshop. Your system should prompt for an admin permission, right (please confirm)? You have to accept.
Then do you have this error message when you accept?

Or then, do a manual install for Photoshop
Download again GoZ, check in the Pixologic/GoZApps/Photoshop folder, you will find these two files.
Then go in your Photoshop application folder, then Plug-ins and see if you have a GoZ folder.
If not, create it and copy the GoZPlugIn64.8li inside or the other .8li if you are running a 32 bits system.

now all is fine :slight_smile: the plugin is awesome !!! but i have one question when i rotate the model in Photoshop the white background goes off . :frowning:
I look at the video tutorial from the zbrush site and there has no such problem when rotate model :frowning:

Zbrush to 3ds max opens up the default interface not my own.

Mine’s light gray and has a few changes to the ui but when I use goz from zbrush to max it opens up a new window of 3ds max with the default settings and ui.

i played for an hour but still its launching multiple instance of maya… :cry:

i had tried both manual any automatic installation as suggested in forums and also in the supplied PDF with GoZ update but no result… :-1:

I’ve installed the update and I’m having some trouble with goz to max 2011 now. Every time I hit GoZ button in ZBrush I’ll get another result in Max :slight_smile: It’s not anything horrible, but once my axis(es?.. sorry, english is not my native language) are correct, the second time they’re flipped, third time correct and so on…

I’m not hanging myself over this, obviously, but it’s straaaange!

satbirarora: did you check that maya is using the good userSetup.mel, I mean the one which define where the GoZ script is located?
When maya is launching, do you have a GoZ shelf or not?

A note about the normal maps: some settings has been changed in this GoZ update, related to the UVs generated by UV master: These UVs had flipped normals (only the UVs). This bug has been fixed in UV Master (the update is available at the download center), but it implied a change in GoZ: In some application the Green channel has been inverted. Then take care if your UVs have been created in an old version of UV Master and if you are using this GoZ update.

Knedlo: you have the flip axis with all the models or only one model?

i dont have the userSetup.mel file installed previously at below location
C:\Users\Satbir Singh\Documents\maya\2012-x64\scripts
then i copy usersetup.mel from
C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\Maya
and paste it there. then i launch Maya a message pops up telling info about Goz Shelf.
Also when from the zbrush the problem was same that it open multiple instance of maya i deleted the shelf in maya retry installation from zbrush force reinstall but no solution.
Also to verify a clean install i deleted the maya folder in documents folder and C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2012\scripts\startup\GoZScript.mel file relaunch maya try all the possibilities but it is still launching multiple instance of Maya.

All installed :slight_smile: How to tell ZBrush to send a GoZ-file to a specific app? Here Cinema 4d always open after sending the file. :confused:

Still no preservation of polygroups in Maya? Hands, heads, everything I have in my library is polygrouped. Until GoZ supports polygroups, I will not be using it. :frowning:

How come when I hit GoZ for photoshop it doesn’t open in 3D mode all I have is just a picture of my model that i can draw on…when I hit GoZ in photoshop - in Zbrush it says that it couldn’t export cuz it wasn’t a 3D layer…Am i doing something wrong? How do I make it appear as a 3D layer? Did I install it wrong or is it a glitch?

The install pdf says your model has to have uvs and you must apply a texture to it (it can be blank). Try that if you haven’t already.

yeah I am using CS5, I have UV’s and a blank texture applied but when I hit goZ…it just throws a picture of the model on the regular photoshop canvas not in the 3D canvas…I don’t know how to actually get into the 3D canvas…since I have never used that feature before.

I’m sorry but am I the only one who’s finding GoZ pretty much useless when it comes to ZBrush<->3DS MAX? Looks like it’s only good for adding extra edge loops to the models that aren’t that complex.

Here’s how it works here:
Clicking GoZ in Zbrush.

Please tell me this is something on my side. I get this kind of stuff on every model I have here. It was happening with the first version and it’s happening now with the latest.

In Photoshop, on the left hand side (your Tool palette) near the bottom you should see two icon (tools) that have a looping circular arrow on them. Clicking the first one should allow you to rotate your model.
The problem I’m having is that I do not see anything in the Automate list that will allow me to go back to Zbrush. Going from Zbrush to PS worked like a charm though … thanks for a potentially great plug in (update).

No 64 bit photoshop support for GoZ on the mac? Works ok in 32 bit mode, but I can’t GoZ back to zbrush from photoshop in 64 bit mode.
