GoZ Installation and issues - Manual install

Good day…

When I send model from ZBrush to Max 2009 by GoZ , it orientation incorrect.
It rotate on 90 degree on X axis.
Using Preferences>ImportExport not help.

Help

Are you using the GoZ integrated in ZBrush 4R3 ?

Yes

Am seeing that whenever I send something from Maya to Zbrush 4r4 using GoZ a lot of the UVs end up bunched up at the 0-0 point. This happened with Maya 2012 and 2013, so it leads me to believe that the problem lies with the new version of Zbrush. Yes, I have tried to delete the GoZ mel file and force reinstall. Nothing seems to work. 4r4 is kinda unusable until this is resolved. On Windows btw.

Anything new on this?

For 3DSMax, check the OBJ Import preferences, if you don’t have an axis orientation change. GoZ is using the Max OBJ I/O.

For Maya, the bug has been fixed and a new GoZ will be available soon (with other minor fixes).

hey

my question: did it work with ps cs6 too?
i’ve zbrush4 and win 7. it works with 3dsmax 11, but i’m getting (in zbrush) an error when i’m trying to install goz for ps. but i got the goz button in ps XD
i tried running zbrush as admin, didn’t work -> same error again.
i already tried the manual installation. same again:

“An error occurred during installation.
One possible cause could be unsufficient permissions in target application installation folder.
Please run ZBrush as an administrator and try again to install the GoZ application!”

Now i was wondering if it already works with cs6 XD
perhaps someone could help me? ^^’

lg,
kiyo

Photoshop CS6 Extended isn’t supported yet for GoZ.

Your error is because GoZ can’t write in some folders. The cause is perhaps you are running ZBrush as an administrator or Photoshop as an administrator. Both shouldn’t be run as an administrator.

ah that’s a pity
so it’d not work with cs6 yet… damn XD
ok, thx u

EDIT:
ok, i thought i should write u this:
it’s working now fine and it works with photoshop cs 6
one of the installationfiles was deleted by my firewall XDD that was the problem!
i put everything in the plug-in folder and now it works
great thing!

Hi my GoZ works fine and when i imported the model with the maps into maya i can see the displacements are correctly working in my viewport’s High Quality Real time rendering mode. However when i render an image with mental ray it does not show the same and distorts the model. How come i can see it correct in viewport but not in a rendered image. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Dear Totyo

I have problem with GOz to 3D max 2013.

  1. when I’m GOz-ing my object from zbrush to 3d max 2013, it can’t work. it work until auto launch 3dmax only, but there is some warning box named (max script auto load script error), says : “runtime error : cannot resolve type : send event to Max:my event receiver”. and 3d max not show any object on it.
  2. but its work when I’m GOz-ing 3d max object to zbrush, show object perfectly.

I’ve re instal plugin in recent release, I’ve try force re-install and direct to correct path on 3d max, but still not help, please help me to resolve this mr totyo,

Does this error appeared suddenly or it is after an upgrade of ZBrush (from 4R5 to 4R6), or after installing a new 3DSMax version?

correct… that happen after change to r6 from r5 sir…

GoZ works great for getting my models from C4D R13 to ZBrush 4R6 P2 (using a Mac Pro 3.2GHZ with 16GB of RAM running OS 10.9.1), but I’m having a problem with the scale of my imported models in ZBrush: they’re tiny. Naturally, I scale them up, but even though I can make my models look giant on my monitor, they must still be tiny inside ZBrush. I know this because when I want to use the brushes on the models, even the smallest sized brush (1) appears giant on the models. [Brush size 1 takes up more than a quarter of the face of my C4D-imported model.] This means that I can’t sculpt any fine detail on my C4D-imported models, until I resolve this problem. Can someone please help me figure out this scale problem? [I have a lot of subtools in my model, with a lot of detail, and I tried fixing this using Transpose Master and then scaling them up, but this keeps making ZBrush crash (must be too many subtools and polys for TM to handle).]

I’ve tried Googling for the answer, but can’t find anything that addresses this issue that I’m having. Am I missing something obvious? [I still have much to learn about ZBrush.] Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Shalom

Did you try Geometry>Deformation>Unify? Smiley got in the post…

Thanks for your response and suggestion, Doug.

“Unify” worked… but only for a single subtool. My other 25 subtools are now now dis-unified - tiny, and no longer in the right place relative to the one subtool that I unified. When I Unify the other subtools, they also get larger, but they’re not in the right positions. Manually resizing and aligning all 26 subtools is doable, but time-intensive. Is there any way of doing this for 26 subtools at once, and keeping their proper relationship?

[Also, my document dimensions are 2,100 x 1,400, if that’s relevant to my issue.]

Do all macro http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?172391-Useful-small-ZScripts-and-Macros-for-ZBrush-4R6&p=1051377&viewfull=1#post1051377 (you’ll have to record/modify etc) should unify them all but I don’t know about their position etc.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was able to find an easier fix - I ignored GoZ, exported an .obj from C4D, and then imported it to ZBrush. It imported everything as a single tool (with no subtools), but with separate polygroups for every layer, so with the groovy one-click polyframe selection feature, I’m good to go. Thanks for your help, though, as I learned about Deformation / Unify. Much appreciated…

Can’t figure out how to link zBrush to Photoshop 2014. Under preferences GoZ, I don’t see a way to specify the path to Photoshop. Also when I use the GoZ button under tools, I get a error dialog box.Error.jpg
On a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.11.5
ZBrush 4R7 P3

Thanks for the help.

Your installation of GoZ seems to be incomplete. Go in the Troubleshoot help folder located in the ZBrush application folder, then execute the GoZ installer. It should reinstall all the GoZ component.
Then when done, launch ZBrush, go in Preferences >> GoZ, then do a update path to Photoshop.
