GoZ error coming into Maya, Mel lines 43 and 84

Anyone else have this problem where occasionally, apparently quite randomly, a sub tool just will not transfer to Maya via GoZ, throwing Mel script errors at lines 43 and 84 of the Maya/GoZ mel script? Appears to have something to do with naming, but I did some experimenting with the offending file to see if changing names would make a difference and it didn’t. Exported as OBJ, which then imported perfectly into Maya. Send that to Zbrush via GoZ just fine, and sent it back to Maya just fine, but as soon as I applied it’s texture, displacement and normal maps in Zbrush and tried to send it, the same error came up again. Obviously I can just output the textures and bring the obj in manually, so there is a workaround, but this is highly aggravating, especially since it only happens on rare occasions but when I does, I have yet to figure out a reason for it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Update:

Tried exporting the offending sub tools as .ma files and the Maya files created from that throw the same error when trying to open them in Maya.

Results in Maya script editor after a GoZ reinstall:

Error: file: C:/Users/Public/Pixologic/GoZProjects/Default/Straps.ma line 136: setAttr: Error reading data element number 1:

just throwing this out there. check mesh integrity. maybe there is some stray or overlapping verts confounding maya.
