GoZ dont send a tool to Modo.

GoZ dont send a tool to Modo.

If I click with an active tool (I take the dog tool as an example) the
Goz button, Modo opens but no tool is transfer to the modo scene
(Blank Modo scene with an empty mesh folder).
The way back from Modo to ZBrush works with one click.
Can someone help?

Copy the “gozio.lx” file to [ModoAppFolder]\extra

gozio.lx is already in the modo/extra folder this is not the issue.

Maya works without any problem.

Maybe there is a doc “how to install GoZ by hand” so that I can see all is in the right place.

same here plus modo to zbrush don’t work too ,i have an error message “unable to open file” i reinstall 3 times zbrush with no change.

Don´t reinstall, is not necessary. just copy the “gozio.lx” file to [ModoAppFolder]\extra

I was having the same problem, until I copy that file

Hello, The problem is still not solved.

Again, the tool is not send to Modo. Modo opens with a blank scene (no Error message) I can manually load in Modo the goZ file from User/Public/Pixologic/GoZProjects. But it don’t replace the tool in Modo
instead it makes a new scene.

i have that same problem with MAX9 - hope to find an answer…

Have you tried forcing a reinstall of goz through the preferences menu in zbrush?

If not, try closing any open instances of both modo and zbrush. Now assuming you are running windows, right click on zbrush4.exe and select run as administrator just to be sure that it has full privileges to write any files it needs to. Then go into Preferences -> Goz -> click Force Reinstall. After that you may want to make sure the path to modo is correct by clicking the Path to modo button and selecting modo.exe (assuming it is called that as i don’t use modo). Once that is done try sending a mesh to modo through goz and see if the problem has been fixed.

As for Goz not working for Max9, you can try the steps I mentioned above, however, i don’t believe that Max9 is officially supported by Pixologic/Goz so it may or may not work.

I do exactly what you advise, nothing changed.
ZB4 write the goZ file to the folder User/Public/Pixologic/GoZProject
(I take the dog as example) than open Modo but don’t transfer the
tool to the scene. It’s only a blank scene with an empty mesh folder.

Hmm, what does it say when you click on the R button to the right of Visible? It should pop up with a window showing all goz enabled applications and which application is the current goz target. So in the window that pops up it should say Modo (current), if it doesn’t then you should click on Modo and try goz again.

Aside from that all I can think of is part of the goz script must not be running correctly, but I don’t know how to fix it. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of goz can provide some more help.

EDIT: After some searching I found manual installation instructions for goz apps located in C:/Users/Public/Pixologic/GoZApps . The modo instruction file says this:

"Installation for Modo 401

  1. Be sure Modo is not running. If it is, exit from Modo prior to install the following files.

Let’s name [ModoAppFolder] the folder where lies “modo.exe”.
For example, it could be “C:\Program Files\Luxology\modo 401 sp4”.
Note: PAY ATTENTION NOT TO COPY FILES FOR MODO 32BITS IN A MODO 64BITS APPLICATION FOLDER, AND VICE-VERSA!!!

  1. Copy the “gozio.lx” file to [ModoAppFolder]\extra

  2. Copy the “GoZ_KeyShortcut.cfg” and “GoZ_Cat401.cfg” files to [ModoAppFolder]\resrc
    "

You could try following those instructions and see if that works.

You wrote: “System is XP/SP2 Modo 401Sp2”

Modo is up to Sp5 and I have that upgrade on my XP computer and no problems so far from GoZ. Might easily NOT be the problem, but I thought I’d suggest that you upgrade Modo.

ZB4 _ GoZ supported 401 (Sp2 to Sp5)

nstine: I read this too

All is in place except GoZ_KeyShortcut.cfg (ModoAppFolder/resc).

Well, I personally use Maya otherwise I would check for that file. Initially I had problems with goz in maya 2011 (goz button didn’t show up in the shelf so I had no way to transfer the mesh back to zbrush). The instructions in my first post solved my issue so I was hoping they would help you as well, but it seems that is not the case.

I would try copying that missing file and see if that does anything. Also, is your copy of modo 32bit or 64bit? Perhaps the installation copied the wrong file versions to your modo directory. You could try manually copying either the 32bit or 64bit files depending on which you are using.

it works now (well kind of…) there is a folder(GoZprojects) with all the goz file inside ,i empty it and it was “working” after that .
i have a mac and goz was working perfectly before now it’s a bit weird.

im having the same problem.
GoZ with luxology modo doesnt works.
Im a pc user, 64bits.
I try everything, but no results until now.

i use SP2 and goz works fine for me. haven’t used it a lot yet, but i’ve tried sending a tool to modo, adding a mesh, and sending it back- seems to work fine for me.

also: i’m on modo x64

works for me (PC 32)

but maybe you guys could check out this post @ the luxology forum:

Hi,

I did not have problems so far with modo 401 SP4, both sending to modo and to zbrush, but today suddenly I can not get a model from zbrush to modo anymore ???

From modo to ZB still works, but not the other way around.

I’ve manually reinstalled the mentined files, but no change.

I’m on XP 64 bit but did not have problems at first, and I did’nt reinstall anything.
Strange .

Any ideas ?

Thanks,
Dominiek.

EDIT : OK now : just restarted the computer and now it works again.
Strange because I did not change anything since the last time it worked.
Ah well … it works … so that’s the most important.
