GOZ Cinema/Zbrush 4 Question

Hi @ alle, i have installed Zbrush 4.0 but everytime i tried to use GOZ in Zbrush 4.0(towards c4d 11.5) it puts the object in a older cinema version(11.0) and if i tried to use GOZ in C4d 11.5(towards Zbrush 4.0) it strikes. I have allready run the “SelectGoZAppsCinema 4d” but it doesn’t work, what do i’m wrong??

I tried that but what is happening now is that if i use GOZ in Zbrush towards c4d 11, the object arrived in C4d but i can’t see it only the objectmager in C4d tells me there is a object but it is invissble? Goz in C4d towards Zbrush still doesn’t work??? Is there a possibility in Zbrush 4.0 to tell Zbrush to sent(GOZ) a object to C4d 11(newest version) en not to a older version of C4d.

please help.

you have to import a script

"In Cinema 4D…

  1. Open the Script Manager. ( Windows menu, Script Manager option).
  2. In the Script Manager Window, open the File menu and select “Import…”.
  3. Open the Users/Shared/Pixologic/GoZBrush/Scripts/Cinema4D/GoZBrushFromCinema4D.CSC file.
  4. If done correctly, you’ll see a GoZ icon in the scripts manager window. Drag this icon to your preferred location within the Cinema 4D interface.

You may now select a 3D mesh in Cinema4D and click the GoZ button to send it to ZBrush."

just i seem to be running into issues here too (conflicts with an older script or something), at least setting the path to R11 seems to have gotten GOZ instaled … just not where i had expected and it’s still not working soooo…will try and try again i guess

Hi FlyingP i tried that also several times, i didn’t work
Perhabs it has something to do with the older versions of C4d and Zbrush, like you said “conflicts with an older script or something” i hope hey will come with a solution because i need the GOZ function very bad

I had some problems first time round trying to install…

what i did was trash any previous GoZ folders/files…if you are on a mac these will be in Users/Shared/Pixologic…I deleted these files but kept a copy of the GoZProjects folder zipped up on another drive.

Then the install went fine.
I would recommend that once you have it installed you go here and download these corrected C4D scripts as the ones GoZ installs are incorrect and have an issue with the texture paths

thanks mala will give that a try

nope not working for me, if i remove all those files it won’t locate cinema anymore, stupid thing is i have it working in a “Non Admin” profile but for some reason other stuff does not work there, if i log in as admin though it refuses to work even though I am using the same scripts

it doesn’t work for me either.

Could the “Pixologic Backup from ZbrushOSX 4 folder” make a conflict with the original Picologic folder? Why is there such a backup folder abyway?

ok looks like it’s a permissions issue, finally got the damn thing working

check the permissions on the files under Users/Shared/Pixologic/GoZBrush

and make sure the right users have read/write permission … also delete in the script manager in cinema any older versions of the GoZBrushFromCinema4D script and import the new 1

that “seems” to have worked for me atm

all i need to do now is get rid of the out of disk space message i am getting in my “non admin” profile (there is 30 gig free so no idea what that is all about)

not for me

Ah! What am I doing wrong?!

So the GoZ button won’t work after I installed and reinstalled everything, and updated the path. The All button right next to it does work and allows me to pop into C4D. So basically this means that I have to take all of my subtools in everytime, not just one. Does anyone have any idea why this might be the case?

Also, my textures and displacement maps are not importing into C4D. When I had GoZ 3.2, everything just worked smoothly. The GoZ button worked and all textures came into C4D and I could render right away. Now when I render in C4D I get a texture error and it won’t render.

Specs: ZBrush 4 GoZ on OSX 10.6 with C4D 11.5

Thanks in advance for any help (other than "Reinstall ZBrush 4 and all your plugins).

For the texture map path problem go up to my post#6 in this thread…in it is a link to corrected versions of .csc scripts…the ones that are installed with GoZ for Cinema4D are incorrect(as where the 3.2 ones-hence all the old scaling+flipped normal problems)

Not sure about the GoZ button problem …

Thanks Mala, it worked. I was able to see the texture in C4D. Hope they get that bug fixed so we don’t have to go through the back door like that anymore. ANyway, the GoZ button still doesn’t work but the “All” button does. Not sure what’s up with that and it is annoying. Anyone know why that might not be working? It would stink to have to work on all subtools everytime instead of just one at a time.

Overall, very happy with ZB4 though. Great upgrade.
