GoZ broken in 3DS Max 2022?

Was glad to see that GoZ is now compatible with Max 2022, but …

… get an installation error when I try and install GoZ in Max 2022 (24.0 - 24.0.0.923). ZBrush (2021.6.3) run as admin BTW.

When I run Max it throws up an error (-- Unknown system exception) when it’s trying to execute the Macro_GoZ.ms in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2022\scripts\Startup

If you add the ‘Edit in Zbrush’ menu item manually and try and send an object over to ZBrush, Zbrush just throws up an ‘unable to open file’ error as it appears to be looking for the object from Max in C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZProjects\Default … but it’s not there.

Hi,

Welcome to ZBC.

These forums are for usage questions rather than support problems - please contact Pixologic Support where we will be able to assist you.

Thank you,

Ok, wasn’t sure - saw a thread re: GoZ and Maya, so thought this was the best place to get a quick reply. Will open a support ticket.

AMPHOTO!

Late night here digging through max install folders trying to figure out why GoZ wasn’t working. I discovered a work around… For some reason the GoZ App wasn’t copying files to the right locations. I was getting the same problem as you.

copy the .dle, .dli, and en-US folder from C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\Max\2022
paste into C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2022\Plugins

Also check that you have these files…
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2022\scripts\Startup\Macro_GoZ.ms
and in your UserMacros folder usually located in the AppData Autodesk folder

This fixed it for me. Hope that helps you other early 3ds Max 2022 adopters.

EARTH2JJ!

Thanks for your reply - and again, apologies to the mods for starting a ‘support’ thread, but in for a penny in for a pound, so we way as well see this through to the end.

First off I cleaned out the previous ‘install’ of GoZ, and forced a reinstall as admin.

Then I moved the files you mentioned from C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\Max\2022 to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2022\Plugins

Checked that C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2022\scripts\Startup\Macro_GoZ.ms is there, and it is.

But, when I looked in C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2022 - 64bit\ENU\usermacros I don’t appear to have any of the *.mcr files you list.

I searched the C drive for ‘GoZ-Add2EPoly.mcr’ just in case the files were being installed in some weird location, but didn’t find anything.

Hmm.

Thanks, this worked for me.
