GoZ and Modo OSX

While GoZ worked fine in zbrush 3.2, I can’t seem to be able to get it to work with Zbrush 4. It saves out from Zbrush fine but Modo never gets the object.

Modo opens and gives the message “No items selected” and although a folder is in modo it is empty.

Also a lot of the plugins for Zbrush 4 point to the pc versions and not the mac versions. e.g. paintstop etc.

Is it possible for Lightbox to see subdirectories as so far although I have my items sorted into subdirectories they are not showing up.

Final thing, I think, is I only recieved my Mac license and not the pc one. If that could be checked out please as the pc version has the web plugin for lightbox which is something I was really looking forward to. I am lazy when it comes to finding references.

Otherwise I am having some fun.

Cheers

Update. I got goz working in Modo by removing manually any previous installations of goz.

The pc license has also now been sent to me.

Cheers so far.

Having the same problem, but I can´t fix it

I am in osx by the way

Same problem here. I’ve read that you can get it working so there is hope. I read on the Lux site not to let Zbrush write scripts to the directories and to place them manually, but I can’t get it to work.
Can someone place offer up a clear step by step to get this working on Mac?Thanks

Edit.

Actually just did it myself and it’s simple.

  1. Remove all previous goz bits from Modo app.
  2. Go to Users/Shared/Pixologic/GoZApps/Modo
  3. Read and execute the ‘instructions.txt’ file!!

( Copy the “gozio.lx” file to [ModoAppFolder]\extra
Copy the “GoZ_KeyShortcut.cfg” and “GoZ_Cat401.cfg” files to [ModoAppFolder]\resrc )

Edit 2

Well, that work fine on my desktop computer, but when I tried the same thing on my laptop I got a "Run implicit Script’ error saying "unknown script “users/Shared/Pixolgic/GoZbrush?Scripts/Modo/GoZbrushToModo.py”.
When I tried to look in that directory I found that there wasn’t one.
So I created it and copied over the ‘to’ and ‘from’ scripts from users/shared/Pixologic/GoZApps/Modo. Works on both machines now.
Weird that the solutions were different.

Hope it helps someone.

Yes, thats the solution, thanks!!!.

Right know is 4:00 am here in Mexico, and I want to keep playing with Z!!!

am using OSX.

I can see a GoZ button in modo,
I created a simple cube and hit the GoZ button in modo 401; I kept getting an error msg that says “Unable To Open File … !:/Users/Shared/Pixologic/GoZProjects/Default/Box2”

I might not have understood the installation instruction for GoZ for modo 401.
My directory is as follows:
‘Username’/Library/Application Support/Luxology/

Questions:

  1. The instruction says "Lets name [ModoAppFolder] the folder where lies ‘modo.exe’. I could not find any modo.exe in OSX, only modo31381.lic (is this the equivalent of modo.exe?).

  2. So following my directory, is ‘Luxology’ the so-called [ModoAppFolder]?

  3. The instruction also says "copy gozio.lx file to [ModoAppFolder]/extra.
I could not find any ‘extra’ folder in my directory. Do I have to create a new folder, name it ‘extra’, and drop gozio.lx in there?

  4. The instruction also says 'copy GoZ_keyShortcut.cfg and GoZ_Cat401.cfg files to [ModoAppFolder]/resrc. I also could not see any existing ‘resrc’ folder. Do I similarly have to create a ‘rescr’ folder and drop the two cfg files in there?

I actually created both the ‘extra’ and ‘rescr’ folder and drop the respective files in there but that’s when I kept getting the error message.

I wonder why Pixologic only writes instructions for PC based and not specifically one for OSX.

What could I have done wrong here? Please help.

Your missing one vital bit of the puzzle. You need to ctrl click on the Modo App icon in your Applications folder and select ’ Show package contents’. The Extras folder and the ‘Resources’ folder are in there. Hope that helps.

After zbrush makes the automatic instalation, just try this:

  1. replace gozio.lx file to [ModoAppFolder]/extra.

You don´t need the other steps.
