Creating maps for a simple 6 piece character. Create a displacement map and the subtool disappears from the viewport. Disable the disp map and the subtool reappears. All tools have a unique name. Some of the tools are sent to max and some not. When 6 are sent 2 are missing and the displacement map yeilds mentalray errors. The suit top of the character has to be imported 3 times before it is usable with textures.
Every normal map that is imported into max has to be reimported with gamma override correction.
The last days have been like dragging a lead block!
Edit: Oh yeah, importing tools that GoZ had missed with the plain Goz button overwrites the tools that were successfuly imported on the first run. The subtools have uvs. I also noticed subtools being renamed as other subtools. For example goz suitop from max to zb will name the suit top eyes and overwrite the eyes subtool even with that tool not highlighted. GoZ to max, uv the mesh, mesh to zb without vertex order changed (I guess) will not append to the appropriate tool, even when selected.
