Gothic Church

This was a piece from a tutorial in 3DCreative magazine. Its all created, textured, lit and rendered in Lightwave. The ZBrush element is obviously the gargoyle. Posted it here when I sculpted it, but wanted to show the final image.

Cheers.

Hi, great scene!

I just have two very minor critiques:

  1. The columns on the left don’t appear to be “receiving” enough light from the windows.

  2. The material on the gargoyle and platform he squats on appear too shiny to me, which makes them look less stone-like.

nice piece

for me either the lighting seems weird.
Not a specialist so it’s difficult to point out a specific issue but the lights doesn’t seems to come from the windows
it’s like there is to much ambiant lighting in the scene

Like this!!!
Thank you.

Cheers. Yeh, I used different lights for the volumetrics and the actual lighting. Also, the gargoyle surface is actually less shiney than it was. I found that with it less shiney, it didn’t really pop. Not sure if I’ll change the lights. TBH I lost interest as I kept rendering big 9 hour renders, and sceing up the sales process

Thanks mate. See above for the reason.

Cheers mate.

Great!

How about a closeup of the gargoyle?

Cheers man. Here is a higher res shot, which lets you get closer into the Gargoyle. The texturing is a bit of a cheat in that it uses a project from the camera so wont work from different angles, but here is the link to the completed Gargoyle, untextured. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=69090&highlight=gothic+church
